Crawford County, Kansas:    The Fair will Endure

The Crawford County Fair Association Board members met for their regularly scheduled meeting July 14th, 7:00pm.   All members were present and reviewed status reports from committees in preparation for the 104th Crawford County Fair July 29th-August 1st.

The Fair Board is pleased to announce that all 2020 grandstand events, live music, and livestock activities will proceed as scheduled.  In fact, reports of good attendance at other local Fair and Rodeo events cause optimism.  County support as measured in Fair sponsorship sales are near record highs.

COVID-19 precautions for the 2020 event include carnival/bounce house cancellation, increased vendor spacing/placement, social distancing signage, and the encouragement of lawn chairs to enjoy live music each night.

Special guest, Crawford County Deputy Health Director Dr. Linda Bean, met with the board to review plans, answer questions and provide the health department’s perspective.  The annual Fair Board Catalog will also include recommendations from County Health officials related to fairgoers and vendor safety practices.

With 103 years of challenges behind it, (including pandemics) The Fair will endure this challenge and move forward in its second century of operation.
