Since the late 1800s, friends and neighbors have gathered under the hot summer sun for fairground fun, frolic, and family pride. What began as a modest agricultural gathering near Cato has grown into the beloved Crawford County Fair—community storytelling come to life!
At the Crawford County Fair Association, our vision is to be the region’s most beloved celebration of agriculture, livestock, and community spirit.
We’re here to cultivate more than crops—we grow connections. Through hands-on education, youth development, and good old-fashioned fun, we aim to keep rural traditions alive while inspiring the next generation of fairgoers, farmers, and dreamers.
Our very first county fair near Cato, a cozy one‑time affair featuring diploma awards instead of ribbons.
The grand opening of the Girard fairgrounds on Sinnet Street, built on 40 acres donated by local farmers.
We cranked up the excitement with $200 pacing races (that’s $4,200 today!), hot‑air balloons, and parachute leaps!
When the railroad dried up our spring, we shifted west to a shady, water‑rich space—complete with dams, wells, and the largest floral hall west of the Mississippi.
The Crawford County Fair Association was born, bringing structure, official leadership, and a new name.
Settled near Western Avenue—where Charles Lindbergh swooped in 1927, dropping a special message from the skies in celebration of the area’s new airplane factory.
We planted our roots at our current home, adding modern grandstands, exhibit halls, barns—and an incredible sense of community spirit.
We’re just east of Girard—easy to find, impossible to forget. Here’s why our fairgrounds stand out:
